My approach to health and wellness is holistic, which means that we will look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we look at how all parts of your life affect your well-being as a whole.
A health coach is a wellness guide and supportive mentor. I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and free of denial and discipline. Rather than dwelling on calories, restrictions and lists of good and bad foods, I will work with you to implement simple and gradual changes that you will be able to maintain and enjoy. I will help you unravel emotional or mental blocks that impede you in making positive shifts for your health and well being.
No one diet works for everyone. I will guide you to find the food and lifestyle choices that best support you, keeping in mind any food sensitivities, cultural needs, or dietary preferences. I will help you succeed in making lifelong changes that enable you to reach your current and future health goals.
The concept of bio-individuality is that each person has her or his own food and lifestyle needs. So, when the experts say, “dairy is good for you” or “fat is unhealthy,” it doesn’t apply to everyone. This is why fad diets tend to fail in the long run. Working on the principle of bio-individuality, I’ll support you in making positive changes that are based on your unique needs, lifestyle, personal preferences, and background. Instead of prescribing one fix for all people, I use a personalized, holistic approach that is based on your needs. If appropriate, I can also arrange for you to do food sensitivity testing for additional guidance as we map your road to wellness.
Nourishment for your whole life
We are not only fed by food but by other factors in our lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual practice are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary.
An integrative approach to nutrition focuses on nourishing food and lifestyle choices. I emphasize the importance of high quality vegetables, fruits, complex carbohydrates, proteins, healthy fats and water. Throughout our sessions, we will continue to look at lifestyle factors that create optimal heath, including relationships, career, physical activity and spirituality.
What clients are saying:
"My coaching sessions with you gave me the motivation and tools to make lasting changes in my eating habits. I don’t skip meals anymore and I know what to eat for snacks, so my energy is a lot better during the day—no more “crashing”! I have a deeper understanding of what really supports me to lead a healthy life." --Ruth Herzlinger, creative arts teacher
Sessions are offered by phone/Skype or in person.
