Acupressure originated in China nearly 4,000 years ago, where early healers discovered points on the body where stimulation could assist recovery from illness and promote better health. They mapped energy pathways (called meridians) throughout the body and explored the connections between vital energy, physical structure, emotional or mental health, and the natural world.
Often called "acupuncture without needles," acupressure is a hands-on technique that is deeply relaxing and effective, and typically not painful. Acupressure can help significantly with pain management, stress reduction, digestive problems, insomnia, chronic illnesses, emotional balancing, and many other conditions.
Consistent with traditional Asian culture, acupressure is designed to address and integrate mind, body, energy and spirit. I practice an integrative style of acupressure that draws upon upon the Five Element tradition of classical Chinese medicine and the chakra system of Ayurvedic medicine, along with contemporary concepts and techniques from Process Acupressure, Zero Balancing, and Jin Shin Jyutsu.
I am also trained in Reiki, Craniosacral Therapy, Swedish Massage, Authentic Movement, and Reevaluation Counseling, and incorporate elements of those modalities as needed. My goal is to offer you a truly whole-person bodywork experience that moves your health and life forward in harmony with your goals.
